2 - Week 5 to 16 - Job
Work Placement
- You must at least be 18
years old and no older than 35.
- You must have an
intermediate English level
(written and spoken).
- Full-time Paid Work
Placement (12 weeks). You will probably work in
a hotel or restaurant, shops, conference
centres, supermarkets or holiday parks. Jobs are
generally waiter/waitress, bar attendant, room
attendant, porter or as a general assistant. You
will probably work 35 - 48 hours per week but it
can be less too. This will include at least some
weekends and evenings (and possibly early
mornings!).Tout En Anglais tries to ensure that
you will have two weeks between receiving the
Placement Proposal and the start of the
placement to allow the student time to prepare.
However, we cannot promise this as the Leisure
industry has high turnover of staff during the
season and employers may need to recruit very
quickly.
- You can be placed anywhere
in the UK (Tout En Anglais can also arrange
placements in Ireland and in the Channel Islands
and students need to specify on their
Enrolment
Form if they do not
wish to be placed here).
Accommodation
- All prices include host
family accommodation in Bournemouth or London
for the duration of the Intensive English Course
(4 weeks) - Section
1. Please note that
summer accommodation supplements are not
included in the price. Please contact us if
starting your programme in June, July or August
for details of supplements. Students on the
Europa programme are usually placed in hotels,
restaurants, pubs, holiday parks
etc. where
accommodation is provided by the employer. The
employers that we work with provide live-in
accommodation for students on-site or near to
their place of work. Costs vary from £25 -
£80 per week according to what part of the
country the company is situated in. The money
will either be deducted from the student's wages
or paid directly to the employer when the
student starts working.
Wages
- Students are guaranteed at
least the National Minimum Wage which is
£5.35 for workers aged 22 and over, and
£4.45 for workers aged 18-21.
Travel expenses
- Travel expenses between the
school/host family/job (or job interviews) are
not included in the prices.
How to apply
- All students will be asked
to complete a
test
before arrival and some students may be required
to complete a longer English course before
beginning their work placement if their level of
English is not intermediate or
above.
- You will be asked to send a
CV in English before you have a telephone
interview. The first telephone interview will be
in order for us to test the your speaking level
of English. If the interview is successful you
will be accepted to start the Europa Programme.
The second telephone interview will usually take
place whilst you are at the school (first 4
weeks). This time you will speak to your
prospective employer and details of your work
placement will be given shortly after that.
